Yo-Yo Ma (chin. 馬友友, Mǎ Yǒuyǒu) (* 7. Oktober 1955 in Paris) ist ein chinesisch-amerikanischer Cellist.
Ma, Sohn einer Hong-Konger Sängerin und eines Dirigenten, begann mit dem Cellospiel als Vierjähriger. Mit sieben Jahren zog seine Familie nach New York um und mit acht Jahren trat er bereits mit Leonard Bernstein im US-amerikanischen Fernsehen auf. Bernstein vermittelte ihn auch zur Juilliard School, wo er Schüler von Leonard Rose wurde.
Yo-Yo Ma wurden mit seinen 50 Alben inzwischen 16 Grammys verliehen; 1999 erhielt er den Glenn-Gould-Preis. Neben klassischer Musik veröffentlichte er auch Alben mit Bobby McFerrin und ein Album mit Tango-Stücken von Astor Piazzolla. Er ist Besitzer eines Stradivari-Cellos.
Er begleitete am 20. Januar 2009 die Inaugurationsfeier von Barack Obama mit einem Quartett und einem von John Williams komponierten Stück, das Kompositionen von Aaron Copland enthielt.
Am 29. August 2009 spielte er zu Ehren des verstorbenen Senators Edward Kennedy im Gottesdienst in Boston.
